Hi Mark, tell us where you're from and how you got into photography.
I'm from Honolulu, Hawaii. I got into photography because of skateboarding in the early 80's. The sport sucked me up in every way.

How would you describe your photography?
For me to try to describe my photography would be very hard, I'd rather you look at it and tell me how you see it. I'd like to say it has feeling.

Where has your work been published?
I've been lucky to have my work published globally, in publications, billboards, web, store windows and other marketing medias.

Your work seems to have a skateboard based foundation? How has that industry influenced your work?
My style comes from skateboarding, the ways I shoot come from skateboarding, I dont ask I just do it. As a skateboarder back then it was only us so we could do what ever we wanted and no one was there to tell us if it was wrong or right, we just did what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it.

What is typically in your camera bag?
It depends on what I'm shooting, my client and location. I shoot Canon, Leica and Hasselblad.

Who are some of your influences in photography?
Duffy, Mario Sorrenti, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Who is one photographer you would suggest our viewers check out?
Duffy

What would be a dream shoot for you?
Vogue

Is there a shoot that has stuck out more than the others?
The last shoot I did was pretty crazy, the wether was tough to work with, rain and snow, it was getting so hard to deal with all the elements and keep a crew of 75 people pumped up, when all I wanted to do was scream. In the end when you don't loose it and you pull a shoot like that off it feels so fucken good.

What do you have planned for the near future? Any projects?
I plan on going across the US with some friends and just shooting America and the people.

Thanks Mark!
